I've heard reports of these boulders for years, and finally my brother and I had a few extra hours to explore Beartown Rocks one afternoon in early May. After completing our tasks during that road-trip we scooted only 25 minutes north of Brookville, Pennsylvania off of PA route 36. We then took PA route 949 for a few minutes east going down into Clear Creek State Park. From the state park entrance the drive is only 10 minutes on gravel roads to the parking area which is adjacent to the top of the boulders. Unfortunately the area doesn't show up well on Google Earth, but Beartown Rocks sits on the crest of a gentle hilltop to the SSE of the state park and above the Clear Creek. It would be a great place to visit in early June when the mountain laurels are blooming. We were also foraging for morels in early may, however, we were not prepared to climb that afternoon. We scouted these rocks and came up with some great pictures which are all together below. I've heard that the Pennsylvania Climbers Alliance (PAC) was attempting to develop Beartown Rocks for climbers, however, I didn't see much evidence of visits by rock climbers. I believe that camping is permitted at Beartown Rocks since it sits in Clear Creek State Forest just outside of the state park. Enjoy the photos and expect future reports of climbing and fly fishing excursions to this location!
We'll focus on developed and undeveloped rock climbing and bouldering in Western Pennsylvania. The authors will list named climbs and difficulty ratings when known. Climbers are encouraged to add their comments. Feel free to supply the authors with photos or videos of your rock climbing adventures.

1st Time at Beartown Rocks

A Million Dollar Question
ReplyDeleteI really liked your blog. Please read below and check out www.furtherthekingdom.com
The million dollar question: Will you go to Heaven? Here's a quick test. Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, or used God's name in vain? Jesus said, "Whoever looks upon a woman to lust after her has committed adultery already with her in his heart." Have you looked with lust? Will you be guilty on Judgment Day? If you have done those things God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart. The Bible warns that if you are guilty you will end up in Hell. That's not God's will. He sent His Son to suffer and die on the cross for you. Jesus took your punishment upon Himself -"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Then He rose from the dead and defeated death. Please, repent (turn from sin) today and trust in Jesus, and God will grant you everlasting life. Then read your Bible daily and obey it.
Thank you
